Today I read something! I haven’t completed it, but it’s better than yesterday. And the day before that, and the day before that, and the day before that.
Imagine a world without words. A world in which books, libraries and newspapers are things of the past. A world where personal devices provide all you could want or need.
Anana Johnson and her father, Doug, are hard at work on the final edition that will ever be printed of the English Dictionary. But one evening, Doug disappears and Anana unearths a single written clue: ALICE.
In the battle to save her father, Anana discovers secret societies, dark incinerator rooms and underground passages. Above all, she finds a world that faces ruin from the dark side of technology.
The book I’ve been reading is The Word Exchange by Alena Graedon and I am currently on page 136. It’s not an easy read, since the concept is hard to understand, and the writing is incredibly detailed, possibly too detailed. But so far I am enjoying it, and it is providing an interesting view on technology and how it affects the language.
I have definitely enjoyed my first Booktube-athon, and I can’t wait until next years one. I will be doing a proper wrap-up of this read-athon – where I will go over my opinions of each book – combined with my monthly wrap-up – because I barely read anything last month.
If you joined in with this year’s Booktube-athon tell me how you did in the comments, because, as always, I’m curious.

This was one of the books in the last book riot subscription box. I haven’t gotten around to it yet, but maybe I should move it up in my TBR pile

I won my copy in a giveaway. Definitely move it up because, if anything, it’s an interesting read that will make you think about the written word and our dependence on technology.
