SUNDAY COMFORTS: July 12th, 2015

rsz_sunday_comforts

Sunday Comforts is a weekly feature on here where I answer questions about a book I already love and want to seek comfort in re-reading them. Here are the questions:

What do you feel like re-reading, or have re-read this week?

The Harry Potter Series by J. K. Rowling

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone blurb:

Harry Potter thinks he is an ordinary boy. He lives with his Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia and cousin Dudley, who are mean to him and make him sleep in a cupboard under the stairs. (Dudley, however, has two bedrooms, one to sleep in and one for all his toys and games.) Then Harry starts receiving mysterious letters and his life is changed forever. He is whisked away by a beetle-eyed giant of a man and enrolled at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The reason: Harry Potter is a wizard!

Is there any reason you want to re-read this/these book(s)?

I’ve recently been reading a lot of Harry Potter fanfiction, and that’s given me the urge to re-read the books.

What’s your favourite thing about this/these book(s)?

What isn’t my favourite thing about these books is a better question. But for the sake of this I will bullet point a few, as I certainly can’t limit myself to just one.

  • The world building
  • The diverse characters
  • The careful plotting and mirroring. For example, you know the story of the Deathly Hallows and the three brothers? Well Snape, Voldemort, and Harry were like the three brothers, and Dumbledore was Death who greeted Harry when he died. He even gave Harry the invisibility cloak. See. Careful plotting and mirroring right there.
  • The fans it has created.

I unfortunately can’t re-read this right now because I have so many books to get through, but I really wish I could because haven’t re-read them in ages.

Are there any books you wish to re-read? Tell me in the comments because, as always, I’m curious.

Also look out for a life update post coming your way because there’s a lot going on right now which I feel like I need to share.
