The Friday 56 is a weekly meme hosted by Freda’s Voice, and the rules are pretty simple:
- Grab a book, any book.
- Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that’s OK.) - Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it).
- Post it.
- Add the url to your post on Freda’s Voice.
Sorry it’s been a while. I had to take a break from blogging for a week, but I am back now!
The book I chose this week is The Emancipation of a Buried Man by Eddy Gilmore. This is a memoir I am intending to read soon, so I thought a sneaky peak of a passage on page 56 wouldn’t hurt.
As previously referenced, the space between the sheets and blankets also were littered with sharply jagged empty seed hulls from the birds, and hardened droppings that disintegrated into dust over time. As I moved around in my bed I could feel all these oddly shaped, cutting, scratchy projectiles rubbing up on me all over. It is crazy to think of it now, but at the time it only seemed odd when I occasionally saw how absolutely pristine the rooms of others kids looked compared to mine.
Tell me what you think it’s about, and, if you have your own Friday 56 post, leave the link to it down below so I can check it out.
Wow, now I am definitely curious. Why is she lying amidst sharp projectiles? Thanks for sharing…and enjoy.

You sure grabbed my attention with the excerpts. I might not have given this book a second thought. Now I’m most curious:)

It is one of those books that can be easily overlooked, but really shouldn’t be. I can’t wait to read it 🙂
